Understanding and Enhancing Policy Engagement Capabilities

Sealey Associates undertook a mapping of the University’s research strengths and their relevance to local, national and international policy areas and policy makers, highlighting potential priorities.

We carried out semi-structured interviews, focus groups and a desk review to build an understanding of how UCLan’s research connected to Government Areas of Research Interests, Select Committees and UN Sustainable Development Goals. We made recommendations for areas of development such as expanding relationships with targeted Government Departments and MPs, as well as applying for funding opportunities to extend policy impacts in particular geographies.

“Sealey Associates provided professional, expert and timely support […]in scoping policy engagement capacity and capability locally, nationally and internationally. Bridget Sealey worked with a range of academics and Professional Service staff, providing invaluable, independent critique and analysis, with clear, well thought through recommendations on where and how to strengthen and move forward."
