Case Study - REF 2021

Higher Education Innovation and Collaboration

Research Excellence Framework 2021

Sealey Associates supported multiple institutions with their Research Excellence Framework submissions. We worked with Russel Group, 1994 Group and Million+ Group institutions and provided support across their submissions. Examples of our work can be found below:

  • Reviewed ~20 environment statements across HASS and STEM disciplines and multiple institutions. This include advising on disciplinary adherence to, and engagement with, concordats and agreements.

  • Supported the writing of impact case studies including the gathering of evidence. We conducted semi-structure evaluation interviews with stakeholders including researchers, Ministerial level policy stakeholders, Government research analysts, and three-star rank military officers.

  • Since 2014, members of the Sealey Associates’ team have reviewed hundreds of impact case studies for multiple institutions in the UK.

  • Advised and led the creation of institutional approaches to impact monitoring and development.

  • Prior to establishing Sealey Associates, Bridget Sealey led the 2014 REF submission preparations for a post 1994 institution.

“Sealey Associates provided professional, expert and timely support for REF2021 preparations […]. Bridget Sealey worked with a range of academics and Professional Service staff, providing invaluable, independent critique and analysis, with clear, well thought through recommendations on where and how to strengthen and move forward."
